Friends, I Received the magic email today!
Yes - I cant believe my eyes, my I-485 has been approved today and card production ordered.
I do have a question: I could not file for my wife's i-485 in July/2007. So, we filed for my wife's application on Aug/01/2008 (Did a overnight express mail on July-31st) as my PD is current as of Aug-1st. So far her application check has not been deposited.
What will happen now? Is she out of status? I am getting really concerned. Gurus help me out?

i dont see any of the above said...:o..how lond does it take for us to receive rn in hand after the checks are cashed...I am starting to worry now.If everybody can see the rn why icant i!:o...The uscis cs is not telling the status...Is there a possiblity of appl rejection even after the checks are cleared.:confused::confused:

I sent this post a few weeks ago but didn't really get a response. I think it's getting a little urgent for me so any help would be greatly appreciated. I'll try to ask more specific questions this time around.

1. Should I wait for my H1B extension to get approved and then move, or can I move now with the current H1B (transferred) and then have the new company apply for my extension? There is an issue. You have to make a trip to the local police station every six months to register your child. If you're lucky, the officials will be polite and helpful and do this without fuss. But knowing India very well, they're more likely to create a fuss till you've bribed them. Also, now they know where your child lives and the fact that he/she is a US citizen. Who knows, what kind of people they will pass on this information to...
Conspiracy theories aside, the whole procedure reeks of the way sex offenders have to register with the police in the US - I just don't like it.
So this Police station registration is if the child starts to live in India or when the child visits India? Where is this rule documented?
If such rules exist, then there should be a formal complaint with the nearest Consulate General. They are reasonable people.

at first glance it seems 245(i) is kicking in real hard.
Look at EB-3 numbers for Mexico, Phillipines, Pakistan, South Korea, Guatemala, Brazil, Equador, Peru, Poland, El Salvador, Bolivia, Ecquador,
Compare this with H1-B data and you'll see what I mean.
Also EB-1 seems unusually high at ~37,000
EB-1 is even higher than EB-2
isn't that unusual?
I think most of the EB1 category for India is being used up by the L1-A visa holders who are Multinational Executives.
The place I work has so many people from Big Indian companies and they have applied in EB-1 category and got their GCs in less than a Year.
I strongly feel L1-A visa holders shud not be put in EB-1 category.

RFE can be issued even though your priority date is not current. This is because USCIS is processing the case and keeping it ready (pre-adjudicate) to issue GC when dates get current.
Recently USCIS announced that they have less application for US Citizenship.
"In fiscal year 2007, a record 1.4 million legal permanent residents applied to become naturalized U.S. citizens just as the agency raised fees for a variety of services. About a million people received U.S. citizenship the following year.
By fiscal year 2008, the number of citizenship applications in the pipeline dropped to about 518,000 � far below the 730,000 filed in 2006."
Also they hired more employees in 2007. Also last year was election year so USC was priority. We will see more resource allocation to 485 apps. But dates are not current to they are Pre Adjuctiing cases. Also it makes sense that date didnot move in April as there was a huge demand from CIS. I think for This FY we will see more EB based approval.. and from now onward there will not be a huge jump back and forth. Also india Eb2 will get 25k visas for this FY and in last quater people till Mid 2006 will get actul card .. There may be some low hanging fruit from early 2007 or late 2006. ( I expect only 1-2 % )

The CSR told that we tracked that this is your 2nd call in 10 days - Is the reason of this call same or different. If the reason is same - Pl dont make a 3rd call before 60 days from July 2nd :eek:

DHS was looking for someone with deportation order of Walawala's place, which the person wasn't there, never lived there, never existed there. Walawala and his wife have valid H1 and H4 status. They looked at their document and with face that look cynical said that Walawala and his wife are 'ONLY' worker that come to this country and threathened they could have done something to harm their status. 'ONLY' Worker that come to this country, what do you guys think?
