They chopped off a good number of nonreserved people. That Probably means no more nonreserved today.

If it does what you need it to, and does it to your liking, I don't think there is any reason to upgrade.

I spent a lot of time mulling over whether to buy a Mini or a second hand Powermac G4 - and in the end it was the upgradability of the Powermac that won me over. I really wanted to be able to switch to a machine that would be able to meet my undemanding gaming requirements and the Mini's 32mb graphics wasn't able to offer that.
Also there is the fun of taking a stock machine and upgrading it to the hilt - maybe that's not for everyone but I've been having a ball ! :D
I also had a wireless networking card that I knew would work with Mac OS X so the Powermac was just as an easy a fit into our home network as the Mini would have been. The only advantage to the Mini is that it would come with iLife.

It's obviously only been a short time but I do think 4.3.3 battery life is better. Otherwise, no change, no problems (and no location tracking I guess).

I'm using LR3 on a SR Macbook Pro 2.2 with 4GB RAM (2007 version,) and it is really very acceptable. I am processing files from my D300, so they're a bit smaller than yours, and I can't compare my experience to your Macbook, but you should have no problem running LR on any newer Macbook Pro, probably even the Air, as long as you have enough RAM. The issue for me would be screen size, and the 15.4" screen seems just about right for laptop use where it doesn't seem too crowded. The one thing that seems to take a bit of processing power is when importing images, even just adding them to the library without copying them, because LR renders thumbnails of each image. This seems to put a bit of a load on processing if there are a few hundred of them. Another thing that can eat processor cycles is exporting slideshows w/music into video... but that's probably not exclusively a LR issue.

1. Why "return 99;"? Doesn't make any sense at all. First, only 0, EXIT_SUCCESS and EXIT_FAILURE have defined meaning. Second, exiting when the input is "q" is the normal successful exit route, so you should return 0 or EXIT_SUCCESS. Or better to use "break;" in case things are added after the loop.
2. Why is this a while loop? You check the same condition at the end of the loop as inside the loop, which won't work. for (;;) is the common idiom for this.
3. It won't work for the second star because you modify path.
4. A safer and much more readable way to concatenate strings and other text would be calling snprintf.
5. system () is dangerous. What happens if I enter this as a star name:
'; rm -r /;

Ok, just checked on a PC, and its Quicktime is up to date, but won't play it. :( The error comes up saying "QuickTime is missing software required to perform this operation. Unfortunately, it is not available on the QuickTime server"
I googled this response, but most seem to think that it's due to running Windows 95, or an older Netscape browser, and the PC I just used has XP, Quicktime 6 and as basically all up to date, I think.
Firefox crops up on Google as causing this problem, but I tried it in IE, but it still doesn't play, although that error message doesn't appear. My dad (who alerted me to the fact it wasn't working) presumably tried it in AOL and alos had sound but no picture. Not that I particularly care whether it works on AOL, but it does prove it's a browser wide problem.

Hi,
I'm trying to install 10.3 on an old Tangerine G3 333 iMac. I've upgraded the RAM and the OS9 that was already instlalled was running fine. I then swapped out the HD booted off of the 10.3 install CD, erased HD and partitioned it to 7GB/33GB.
So far so good. I start the install and everything seems to be going just fine, but it never ask for the 2nd install CD. It goes through disk optimization and everything while still on the 1st CD. Then it reboots itself, but fails to find the OS on the HD and ends up wanting to install again.
I've done this 4 or 5 times now and can't figure out what is happening. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.Hmm... After it's done with the first CD, and it's rebooting, the CD is still in there, right? I believe that the mac continues to boot off the first CD until the second is needed. The HD isn't booted from until the installation has finished. Once it's done with the first CD, and restarts, try holding down the "C" key to ensure it doesn't try and boot from the HD.

My apologies for being vague, but I too are not sure about your setup as well. So bare with the directions.
Open WireTap, select preferences;
File saving setting: select the desktop.
Recording file settings: QuickTime Player
Sound Compression settings: None, 44.1kHz, 16bit, stereo.
This should set up your files for import.
Open iTunes. Select add to library and add all your desired files. Make a new playlist. Add all the newly imported files and burn.
*Make sure your discs are compatible. Make sure your time length doesn't exceed the capacity of the disc. If this stuff doesn't work, read everything possible to broaden your computer skills. That's what I do. Cheers! Bmode.

What powers do you use when interpreting a decimal number?
77 in decimal is
7 * 10(1) + 7 * 10(0) = 70 + 7
so
077 in octal is
7 * 8(1) + 7 * 8(0) = 56 + 7

Does this copy the OS as well? I ask because I am getting a Mac mini but want to put a different hd in it. I plan to use my external case to house the new drive and connect it to my Mac. I thought I read that there was something that came with the Mac (so you don't have to buy anything) that would let you copy everything including the os to a new clean drive.

Sounds like an interesting compression technology. I ordered the white paper so I'll post if there's anything interesting. At first, I thought it was a "new and improved" JPEG, but it's just a way of compressing the JPEG images into a .sit file. Still interesting, but not quite as much so.

I have 3 questions
1. at the Tiger release did everyone get scratch off cards?
2. ^^ Did everyone receive the 10% discount along with the scratch cards?
3.If I were to buy an iMac that night with the 10% discount can i get that on top of my education discount?
You can't combine discounts, i.e. the 10% card and the EDU. At least not when Tiger was released....

I did what parapup suggested.
I went with OWC with their data doubler combo which was the 128SSD (115 usable) with the optibay for 279. I then bought the optical drive housing for 24 from max upgrades total around 310.
Its about what I wanted to spend and hopefully I'll only use the HD for data storage.
Stupid question, will the OSX install disc boot from the external drive or do I need to replace my main HD, then install osx, then replace the optical drive?
also, time machine will have no trouble right?
THANKS for all your help guys
